🧠 Brain Profiling

These frequently asked questions relate to the proprietary psychometric assessment at ploomo.

What information can I understand about individuals with the brain profile assessment?

Profiling helps us understand a person's preferences to work and interactions which surface in the unique ways we perform, process, and think. From this information, we can have a better understanding of their grit, drive, sales energy, autonomy and more. To understand these preferences, our brain profiling test analyses three cores areas:

  • Brain preferences - This looks at how a person engages with, processes, and communicates information. This is categorised by factors like structured, detailed, creative, or people-oriented.

  • Application style - This looks at how a person applies themselves to work and certain tasks. This is categorised by factors like competitiveness, flexibility, and independence.

  • Interaction style - This looks at how a person interacts with other people in group settings. This is categorised by factors like charisma, confidence, and extraversion.

With these insights, ploomo will then identify the archetypes the individual is most similar to and provide a summary of their preferences and personality type. For a further breakdown of the results, you can click here.

What is your brain profiling based on?

At ploomo, we have developed our very own personality assessment built on a foundation of leading scientific assessment frameworks. Our proprietary assessment combines academic research with practical insights from our team members with decades of real-world business experience to bring valuable insights on personality archetypes and workplace preferences.

The development of the Assessment is based in part on existing psychometric testing approaches, including MBTI and Jung test, Kobus Neethling NBI brain preference test, Big 5 (6) tests and Thomsons High Performing Trait Indicator (HPTI). These extensively researched and respected perspectives within the personality and organisational research provided frameworks from which our team extended on, augmented by their own business experience.

Our research team is built on diversity across skills, industries, interests, and backgrounds and has been developing applicable insights for over ten years. The original research occurred at one of Australia’s largest and most successful systematic macro trading hedge funds. The core team continued on to form ploomo and continues to expand with backgrounds in data modelling, software development, quantitative trading research, mathematics, information engineering, and psychology. The background and approach provide a new perspective to a data-driven approach to talent management, making the insights practical and approachable for professionals.
